Featured at the COP30 summit in Brazil, thanks to the incredible work led by Stephen Gardner and the sustainability committee.
Fillongley Cricket Club were featured on a world stage at the UK's stand at the United Nations climate conference, held in Belem, Brazil from November 10th to 21st.
The focus of the conference, expected to attract 75,000 people from across the world, is on restricting climate change and adapting to its effects.
Following our regional and national awards for sustainability and the 2024 award by The Cricketer Magazine UK's Greenest Ground, we were invited by the team organising the UK's contribution to prepare a "best practice" video of how local sport can contribute.
The 90 second video was shown "on loop" on the large video screen, part of the UK's stand at the conference.
Many thanks to Ayaz Ali and Jack Simmons for video filming; Saad Quazi for editing; and to the Sustainability and Management Committees who are leading the Club on its journey towards sustainability.
In recent years the Club has made major strides to be financially and environmentally sustainable. As a Club run entirely by volunteers, we can only do this if people put themselves forward to help us.
